Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

JoABE publishes scientific articles on theoretical reviews, case studies, and discussions on issues on any aspects of architecture and built environment, which can range from single building or space to urban, regional areas and digital space. These aspects include design, history, theory, sustainability, social, politics, economy, culture, and education.  Other standpoints are welcome where relevant to the issue of architecture and built environment and meet academic excellence. The following sections and subject fields are included:

Architectural and urban design

This section publishes studies on design process, methodological approach in design, the use of technology in design, and the role of stakeholders in designing built environment. It also includes design typology and styles in any perspectives.

Architectural and urban history

This section covers historical studies on built environment

Architectural and urban theory

Manuscripts publish in this section presents reviews and discussions on theories relevant to architecture and built environment.

Sustainable architecture/ urban environment

This section covers studies on sustainable built environment from economic, environmental, and cultural point of views. 

Socio-political aspects of built environment

This section includes research on socio-political aspects of built environment.

Cultural aspect of built environment.

This section specifically covers research and discussion on issues dealing with cultural aspects of built environment. This include heritage issues, preservation, tourism and any relevant issues related to culture and built environment.

Economic aspect of built environment.

This  section provides a forum to disseminate studies that offer a unique approach to

 

Architectural education

This section provides a forum to disseminate studies on architectural education which may include teaching method in design studios, and the use of technology in teaching architecture.

Peer Review Process

To ensure the quality of the articles, JoABE conducts double blind review in which both authors and reviewers do not have any information about each others' identities. The editors have rights to reject any articles that do not meet the minimum standard requirements such as style and quality before passing on the articles to reviewers. In the review stage, every article will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. Editor will then notify the authors about the review results and act accordingly.

 

Publication Frequency

JoABE is published twice a year on February and August (2 issues a year).

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Publishing Ethics

Ethical standards for publication exist to ensure high-quality research publications, public trust in scientific findings, and that people receive credit for their ideas. JoABE: Journal of Architecture and Built Environment is committed to peer review integrity and practices the highest standards of ethical publishing.JoABE: Journal of Architecture and Built Environment publication ethics encourages integrity in research and peer review process and prohibit any malpractices regarding publication.


Plagiarism

JoABE: Journal of Architecture and Built Environment is committed to publishing only original material, i.e., material that has neither been published elsewhere, nor is under review elsewhere. Manuscripts that are found to have been plagiarized from a manuscript by other authors, whether published or unpublished, will incur plagiarism sanctions. 

 

Duplicate Submission

Manuscripts that are found to have been published elsewhere, or to be under review elsewhere, will incur duplicate submission/publication sanctions. If authors have used their own previously published study, or study that is currently under review, as the basis for a submitted manuscript, they are required to cite the previous paper and indicate how their submitted manuscript offers novel contributions beyond those of the previous work.

 

Sanctions

In the event that there are documented violations of any of the above mentioned policies in JoABE: Journal of Architecture and Built Environment, the following sanctions will be applied:

  • Immediate rejection of the infringing manuscript.
  • Immediate rejection of every other manuscript submitted to Mekanika by any of the authors of the infringing manuscript.
  • Prohibition against all of the authors for any new submissions to JoABE.

 

In cases where the violations of the above policies are found to be particularly egregious, the publisher reserves the right to impose additional sanctions beyond those described above.

 

There are three roles in this Journal which have different rights and responsibilities as below,


Editors' rights and responsibilities,

The main responsibilities of editor is to maintain and improve the quality of article published in JoaBE. it can be done by checking the format and style of article, maintaining the integrity of the authors, delivering the correction and clarificartion and preparing the what the authors and the reviewers need in publishing journal. The editors must be open minded and shall listen opinions which can improve the quality of the journal.

 

Reviewers' rights and responsibilities, 

Reviewers have responsibilities to review the article and give the results to editors to determine whether the article is feasible to be published or not. In the review form, the reviewers should give clear feedback and suggestion in order to improve the quality of the article. Reviewers do not allow to review the papers which include them as authors.

 

Authors' rights and responsibilities,

Authors have right to submit the article in JoABE: Journal of Architecture and Built Environment. However, they should ensure their articles are approprate to the format, style, template, and research interest in JoABE. They have rights to get feedback and clarification if their articles are rejected or need revision. The authors must be honest and do not allow to do any plagiarism.


 

Copyright

JoABE suggests that the authors would retain the copyright of their works. It also encourages the publication of the work published in JoABE into any other community sharing format (i.e. researchgate) by the author or other interested parties. 

JoABE, however, requests that the latest version of the publication cites the initial published version in JoABE.   

 

Publication Fee

JoABE does not require authors to pay any publication fee.
