Abstract

This literature review article provides an analysis of the historical developments and theoretical frameworks proposed by renowned philosophers in the field of Reaslistic Mathematics Education research in mathematics. By examining the contributions and perspectives of influential figures, the authors aim to provide a review of 17 studies on realistic mathematics education from the Scopus database between 2020 and 2024. Using descriptive and bibliometric analysis, this study discusses three research problems as follows: (i) article analysis based on the Lakatos Theory; (ii) research containing Empirically Progressive; (iii) the most important topics; to enhance understanding of RME as a research area. This review serves as a valuable resource for individuals interested in delving deeper into realistic mathematical concepts in interactive research. Researchers can gain valuable insights into the evolution and theoretical underpinnings of EMR research for researchers with a framework aimed at understanding the development of ideas and theories within the field
