Author Guidelines

PREPARING THE MANUSCRIPT

Please make sure before submitting that: All manuscripts must be written in clear and grammatically correct English (UK). The manuscript is proofread several times by the author(s); and is criticized by some colleagues. The language has been checked by a professional proofread or a native English speaker. The structure of the manuscript in accordance with the guidelines (sections, references, quality of the figures, etc). Abstract provides a clear view of the content of the paper and attracts potential readers/citers. The number of cited references complies with the limits set by this journal (around 20 for research papers).

The manuscript should be as short as possible, with the abstract 250 words maximum. Manuscript of original research should be written in no more than 8,000 words (including tables and picture), or proportional with articles in this publication number. The review articles will be accommodated, while short communication should be written at least 2,000 words, except for pre-study (can longer) (excl. abstract, tables, figures, references). For a research paper, the manuscript should be arranged in the following sections and appear in order: Title, Abstract, Keywords (placed from A to Z), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, and References. For reviews and short communications, it is accommodated.  

The manuscript is written on white paper of A4 (210x297 mm²) size, in a single column, single spaced, 12-point (12 pt) Times New Roman font. The margin text is 3 cm from the top, 2 cm from the bottom, and 1.8 cm from the left and right. Smaller lettering size can be applied in presenting table and figure (9 pt). Word processing program or additional software can be used; however, it must be PC compatible and Microsoft Word-based (.doc or .rtf; or .docx). The metric measurement uses IS denomination; usage another system should follow equivalent with IS first mentioning. Abbreviations set off, like g, mg, mL, etc. do not follow by a dot. Minus index (m^-2, L^-1, h^-1) suggested being used, except in things like "per-plant" or "per-plot". Equation of mathematics does not always can be written down in one column with text, in that case, can be written separately. Number one to ten is expressed with words, except if it relates to measurement, while values above them written in number, except in early sentence. The fraction should be expressed in decimal. In the text, it should be used "%" rather than "percent". Avoid expressing ideas with a complicated sentence and colloquial words, and keep concise and clear sentence.

Title of the article should be written in a compact, clear, and informative sentence, preferably not more than 20 words. Name of author(s) should be completely written, especially for the first and the last name.  Name and institution address should also be completely written. We choose local names in Bahasa Indonesia for universities in Indonesia. The mention of "graduate program", "undergraduate program", "post-graduate program", "master program", "doctoral program" should be avoided in the name of institution. Manuscript written by a group, author for correspondence along with address is required. The title page (first page) should include the title of the article, full name(s), institution(s) and address(es) of the author(s); the corresponding author mentions the detail email addresses.

Abstract A concise abstract is required (about 250 words maximum). The abstract should be informative and state the background of the research, the study's aim, the principal results and major conclusions briefly. An abstract is often presented separately from the article; thus, it must stand alone (completely self-explanatory). References should not be cited, but if essential, then cite the author(s) and year(s). Abbreviations should be avoided, but if essential, they must be defined at their first mention.

Keywords is about five words, covering scientific and local name (if any), research theme, and special methods which used; and sorted from A to Z.

Abbreviations (if any): All important abbreviations must be defined at their first mention there. Ensure consistency of abbreviations throughout the article.

The introduction is about 400-600 words, covering the aims of the research and provide an adequate background derived from the gap analysis of the literature, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results. It is the opportunity to justify state of the art for the research.

Materials and Methods should emphasize the procedures and data analysis adopted in the research. Citation of the adopted approach is mandatory.

Results and Discussion should be written as a series of connecting sentences; however, for a manuscript with long Discussion should be divided into subtitles. Thorough Discussion represents the causal effect mainly explains why and how the results of the research were taken place, and do not only re-express the mentioned results in the form of sentences. Concluding sentence should be given at the end of the Discussion.

Acknowledgements are expressed in a brief; all sources of institutional, private and corporate financial support for the work must be fully acknowledged, and any potential conflicts of interest are noted.

Figures and Tables of the maximum of three pages should be presented. Title of a picture is written down below the picture, while the title of a table is written above the table. Coloured figures can only be accepted if the manuscript's information can lose without those images; a chart is preferred to use black and white photos. The author could consign any picture or photo for the front cover, although it does not print in the manuscript. All images property of others should be mentioned source. The author is suggested referring to Wikipedia for international boundary and Google Earth for satellite imagery. If not specifically mentioned, it is assumed to refer to these sources.

There is no appendix; all data or data analysis are incorporated into Results and Discussions. For comprehensive data, it can be displayed on the website as a supplement.

References should be in APA 6th /APA 7th style. Kindly use the application which is intended for managing references such as Mendeley, RefWorks, Zotero (free) or Endnote, Reference Manager (paid). Tables should be numbered consecutively and accompanied by a title at the top. Illustrations Do not use figures that duplicate matter in tables. Figures can be supplied in digital format, or photographs and drawings, which can be ready for reproduction. Label each figure with the figure number consecutively.

UNCORRECTED PROOFS

Proofreading will be sent to the corresponding author by email as .doc or .docx files for checking and correcting typographical errors. To avoid delay in publication, proofs should be returned in 7 days.

SUBMISSION

The journal only accepts online submission, through an open journal system (https://jurnal.uns.ac.id/ijpte/author/submit/1). The manuscript must be accompanied by a cover letter containing the article title, the first name and last name of all the authors, a paragraph describing the claimed novelty of the findings versus current knowledge; and a list of five suggested international reviewers (title, name, postage address, email address). Submission of a manuscript implies that the submitted work has not been published before (except as part of a thesis or report, or abstract); and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. When a manuscript written by a group, all authors should read and approve the final version of the submitted manuscript and its revision; and agree the submission of manuscripts for this journal. All authors should have made substantial contributions to the concept and design of the research, acquisition of the data and its analysis; drafting of the manuscript and correcting of the revision. All authors must be responsible for the quality, accuracy, and ethics of the work.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
2. The content addresses an international audience, not limited to a certain country, nor uses colloquial terminologies.
3. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
4. DOI and/or URLs for the references have been provided where available.
5. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

7. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
