Teachers and schools play an important role in Indonesian education. This study aims to describe how the problem of learning Biology in high school. This research was conducted at one of the high schools in Takengon Regency, Central Aceh. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Observations focus on the biology learning process from preliminary activities, core activities and closing activities. Research data collection techniques use observation techniques and open-ended question interviews with Biology teachers. The result of this study is the availability of insufficient facilities, the ability to explain teachers that are not systematic and fluent makes students' cognitive involvement decrease

Guru dan sekolah memegang peranan penting terhadap pendidikan Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana permasalahan pembelajaran Biologi di sekolah menengah atas. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada salah satu SMA di Kabupaten Takengon, Aceh Tengah. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Pengamatan fokus kepada proses pembelajaran biologi dari kegiatan pendahuluan, kegiatan inti dan kegiatan penutup. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan teknik observasi dan wawancara open-ended question terhadap guru Biologi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ketersediaan fasilitas yang tidak mencukupi, kemampuan menjelaskan guru yang tidak sistematis dan lancar membuat keterlibatan kognitif siswa menurun
