Analysis of Science Process Skills in the Guided Inquiry Learning Model of Biotechnology Materials

Abstract


Science Process Skills is one of the most important skills for students in preparation for the challenges of the 21st Century. The learning process in schools generally does not pay enough attention to students' science process skills; one of the relevant learning models to develop students' science process skills is the Guided Inquiry model. This study aims to determine the profile of students' Science Process Skills in the Guided Inquiry learning model of Biotechnology materials and the differences in Science Process Skills of students who use Guided Inquiry learning and conventional learning. This research was carried out at SMA Negeri 9 Depok in 2024. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with a posttest-only control group design. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The sample of this study consists of 2 classes in phase E, which act as a control class and an experimental class. The data collection instruments used are the test approach, namely the posttest, and the non-test approach, namely the observation sheet. The skill profile of students' science process in the Guided Inquiry learning model of Biotechnology material shows variations. The highest aspect is communicating, with a percentage of 87.61%, and the lowest aspect is prediction, with a percentage of 49.52%. Data analysis of the two classes using the Independent Samples T-Test obtained a significance value of 0.000, which is below α = 0.05; it can be concluded that there is a difference in the science process skills of students in the experimental class and the control class in the concept of biotechnology.
