MODEL IMPLEMENTATION INQUIRY LEARNING TO IMPROVE THE CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY OF STUDENTS IN CLASS X ECOSYSTEM MATERIALS AT MA ALKHAIRAAT BOLANGITANG BARAT

Abstract


This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills through inquiry learning models on ecosystem material at MA Alkhairaat Bolangitang Barat. This research method is a quantitative descriptive using a pre-experimental design type of One Group Pretest Posttest Design . Data collection uses the implementation of learning, student activities and critical thinking indicator questions (tests). The data analysis technique used is the category of critical thinking skills and N-Gain. The average score before learning ( Pre-test ) is 25 and it has increased after applying the inquiry learning model ( Post-test) with an average score of 73. In addition, the Gain normalization value obtained from students' understanding in studying Ecosystem material, namely reaching 0.63 with moderate criteria. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the inquiry learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills in ecosystem material. This can be seen from the results of the percentage score on the indicator of critical thinking ability on the Posttest score which shows that the posttest score of students is higher than the Pretest score . This is because students are able to be actively involved and are brave in asking questions and expressing opinions.
