Profil kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis pada mahasiswa calon guru sekolah dasar: Studi pendahuluan
Abstract
Profile of mathematical problem-solving ability of primary school teacher prospective students: Preliminary study
Abstract: This study aims to analyze and describe the profile of the mathematical problem-solving ability of early semester students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program. The exploratory descriptive method was applied in this study. The population in this study was elementary school teacher education students from the Indonesian Education Institute, Garut City, West Java Province. The subject selection technique was purposive sampling. The subjects in this study were Elementary School Teacher Education Students of the Indonesian Education Institute who took the Basic Concepts of Mathematics course in the odd semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, totaling 34 students. Data collection was carried out through written participant answer documents and interviews. Data were analyzed by examining the subject's written answer sheets through the coding and grouping process. Meanwhile, observation data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that 79.41% of students still had difficulty in reading and understanding the problems presented. The findings underline that students' mathematical problem-solving abilities are still weak.
