Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve learning achievement in reading maps of the local environment in social studies class IV SD Negeri 4 Plajan through the image media of the Microsoft Paint application. One of the materials is contained in the Basic Competency of Reading Local Environmental Maps (Regency/Provincial City) Using a Simple Scale. However, this learning material has not shown the results as expected. Low student involvement in learning due to low motivation to learn has had an impact on their learning achievement which is also low. For this reason, it is necessary to improve learning through Classroom Action Research through the use of Ms. Paint in two cycles operated using a computer and LCD device. After improvements were carried out in two cycles, it was found that there was an increase in learning achievement, learning motivation, and students' skills in drawing maps of the local area. The average number of learning outcomes in cycle I reached 60 and became 90 in cycle II. The percentage level of learning incompleteness decreased to 40% in Cycle I and decreased again to 10% in Cycle II.
