Abstract

This research aims to introduce the concept of multiplication as a repeated addition calculation operation using congklak media. This form of research is classroom action research carried out in 3 cycles. The subjects of this research were 2nd grade students at SD Negeri 01 Taji, Prambanan District, Klaten Regency, totaling 22 students. Data collection techniques use tests, observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses interactive analysis techniques. Description of the use of congklak as a mathematics learning medium for grade 2 elementary school students to introduce the concept of multiplication as repeated addition with four steps, namely 1) The teacher recognizes the concept of multiplication as repeated addition and models the steps for using the congklak medium slowly; 2) students try to calculate multiplication using congklak alternately; 3) students learn together with their group members; 4) each group competes to work on coupon questions, the group that can complete the most coupons in turn by its group members is the group that wins this game.
