Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of implementing the Project-Based Learning approach in enhancing the discussion skills of second-grade elementary school students in thematic learning. The study was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations, field notes, interviews, and student discussion ability tests. Data analysis was performed qualitatively and quantitatively to measure the improvement in students' discussion skills. A pre-test and post-test were conducted in each session to assess the students' progress. In Cycle I, the percentage of students who passed the post-test was 69%. In Cycle II, the percentage of students who passed the post-test was 91%. The results of the study indicate that the Project-Based Learning model can enhance the learning outcomes of students in thematic learning for second-grade students at SDN 2 Kayen. The improvement in scores from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2 suggests that the implementation of Project-Based Learning has a positive impact on enhancing students' learning abilities.
