Profil Kewarganegaraan Ekologis Siswa Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah

Abstract

Strengthening ecological citizenship from the elementary school level is important because students need to be equipped with environmental awareness, responsibility, and behavior as part of the character of participatory and sustainability-oriented citizens. This study aims to identify the ecological citizenship profile of elementary school students. Survey research was used in this study. A total of 77 fifth-grade students were sampled in this study from two elementary school in Sruweng and Buluspesantren Districts, Kebumen Regency. A questionnaire instrument was used to collect data on ecological citizenship. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the level of ecological citizenship of students was in the good category with an average of 2.78 (69.50%). The aspect of environmental justice obtained the highest score, while the aspect of responsibility towards the environment received the lowest score. This means that students have a good understanding and concern for the environment, although it needs to be strengthened in the application of daily behavior. Therefore, schools need to optimize environmental education through continuous learning and habituation.
