Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation process of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in the topic of the volume of solid figures among fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 05 Mojosongo, Surakarta. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through passive participatory observation across four meetings, semi-structured interviews with the homeroom teacher and students, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The validity of the data was examined through source and technique triangulation. The results describe that the learning process followed the five PBL syntaxes, namely orienting students to the problem, organizing students to learn, guiding the investigation, developing and presenting work, and analyzing and evaluating. Within these stages, the teacher acted as facilitator, mediator, motivator, and evaluator. Student involvement was observed through enthusiasm, cooperation, interaction, and responsibility while working on problems related to the volume of cubes and rectangular prisms.
