ANALYSIS OF INCREASING THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND MATHEMATICAL CONCEPTS THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF THE PEER TUTOR LEARNING MODEL
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the application of peer tutor learning models on the understanding of mathematical concepts of third grade students at SDN Keresek 3 on the material around square and rectangle. This type of research is quasi-experimental. The sample in this study amounted to 28 third grade students of SDN Keresek 3 for the academic year 2021/2022 which were divided into a control group and an experimental group. The research instrument used a concept understanding ability test in the form of 10 description questions. The results of hypothesis testing carried out using t-test with a significant level of 0.05, then obtained tcount 4.434 ttable 2.005. In addition, the influence of this peer tutor learning model can be seen from the calculation of the pretest and posttest of the two groups. Then the posttest showed that the experimental group obtained a higher average than the control group, namely 83.5 and the control group with an average value of 68.7. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is an influence of peer tutor learning models on the ability to understand concepts of third grade students at SDN Keresek 3.
