Abstract

Socialization of The Application of Terraces to Reduce Erosion in Cimenyan Sub-district, Bandung Regency. Horticultural land in Cimenyan District has a hilly topography with a slope of 15–25% and high rainfall, making it vulnerable to surface erosion and increased runoff, especially in seasonal cropping systems that are still managed conventionally without post-harvest land cover. This condition requires increasing the capacity of farmers to understand sloping land protection techniques based on elevation planning and flow control. This community service program aims to improve farmers' understanding of the concepts of erosion and soil conservation, strengthen technical skills in planning, constructing bench terraces using ondol-ondol, foster farmers' ability and commitment to independently implement these conservation techniques to support more sustainable agricultural practices. The program lasted for two months and included four main stages: technical guidance, simulation of bench terrace construction using ondol-ondol, field practice, monitoring and evaluation. Evaluation was conducted through process observation and comparison of pre-test and post-test scores. The results showed a 13.37% increase in participants' understanding, accompanied by the successful formation of terraced cultivation areas on a total area of 5.72 hectares. Overall, the program proved effective as a model for increasing farmer capacity in sloping horticultural areas. The program's sustainability is recommended through continued mentoring and regular monitoring to ensure consistent implementation and land readiness for the next planting season.
