Jurnal Psikoedukasi dan Konseling is committed to promoting responsible authorship, transparent reporting of contributions, and integrity in scholarly publishing. Individuals may be listed as authors only if they meet all four of the following criteria:
- Substantial contribution: They have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
- Writing and critical revision: They have drafted the manuscript or critically revised it for important intellectual content.
- Final approval: They have approved the final version of the manuscript to be published.
- Accountability: They have agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to ensure that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
All individuals designated as authors must satisfy all four criteria. Those who meet only some of these criteria should not be listed as authors but may be acknowledged for their specific contributions, with their consent. Individuals who meet the first criterion should be given the opportunity to participate in drafting or critically revising the manuscript and to fulfill the remaining authorship criteria.
Authorship should reflect actual scholarly contributions and must not be granted solely on the basis of academic seniority, institutional position, funding provision, administrative responsibility, or general supervision. Gift, guest, and honorary authorship are not permitted. Conversely, individuals who have made qualifying intellectual contributions must not be excluded from authorship.
Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the journal and the authors throughout submission, peer review, and publication. The corresponding author is responsible for:
- Ensuring that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria and that no eligible author has been omitted.
- Obtaining confirmation from all authors that they have approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission.
- Providing accurate author names, affiliations, contact details, and contribution statements.
- Ensuring that relevant ethical approvals, informed consent requirements, funding sources, and conflicts of interest are appropriately disclosed.
- Communicating editorial decisions and requests to all co-authors and ensuring that all authors remain informed about significant changes to the manuscript.
- Responding to editorial inquiries and cooperating with the journal in resolving questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or ethical conduct of the research.
All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the work. Each author should be able to identify their own contributions and understand which co-authors are responsible for other specific aspects of the research.
Changes in Authorship
The author list, including the names and order of authors, should be agreed upon before manuscript submission. Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be supported by a clear written explanation and the written agreement of all affected authors, including any individuals being added or removed.
All changes are subject to editorial review and approval. The journal may suspend the editorial process while an authorship dispute is being investigated. If the authors cannot reach agreement, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institution(s) for investigation or adjudication. The journal will not independently determine the rightful authorship of disputed work without an adequate basis for doing so.
After publication, approved changes to authorship will be handled through an appropriate correction notice or other editorial action consistent with the nature of the issue and the journal's publication ethics procedures.
Contribution Statements and CRediT Taxonomy
To improve transparency in scholarly publishing, the Jurnal Psikoedukasi dan Konseling requires authors to provide a statement describing the individual contributions of each author. The journal encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), which provides standardized terminology for describing contributions to research and scholarly publications.
CRediT roles may include:
- Conceptualization
- Methodology
- Software
- Validation
- Formal analysis
- Investigation
- Resources
- Data curation
- Writing – original draft
- Writing – review and editing
- Visualization
- Supervision
- Project administration
- Funding acquisition
Authors should identify the roles performed by each contributor accurately. Multiple authors may share a role, and one author may undertake several roles. Not all roles are applicable to every manuscript.
CRediT statements describe contributions but do not independently determine authorship eligibility. All listed authors must still satisfy the four authorship criteria stated above. The contribution statement will be published with the article, where applicable.
Acknowledgments and Non-Author Contributions
Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet all authorship criteria may be recognized in an Acknowledgments section. Such contributions may include technical assistance, language editing, administrative support, access to research materials, or general scholarly advice.
Authors must obtain permission from acknowledged individuals before naming them, as acknowledgment may imply their endorsement of the research. Funding sources and the roles of funders in the study design, data collection, analysis, manuscript preparation, or publication decisions must be disclosed separately where applicable.
Acknowledgments must not be used to conceal qualifying authorship contributions or to imply endorsement by individuals who have not consented.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The Jurnal Psikoedukasi dan Konseling recognizes that AI-assisted technologies may support certain aspects of scholarly work but requires their use to be transparent and responsible. Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools and other AI-assisted technologies when such tools have contributed to the preparation or production of the submitted manuscript. The disclosure should identify the tool used and explain its purpose and scope. For example, AI may be used for drafting or revising text, translation, code generation, data analysis, or figure creation. Where relevant, the use of AI in data collection, analysis, or figure generation should also be described in the Methods section.
AI tools, including large language models and chatbots, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, and ethical compliance of scholarly work. Human authors remain fully responsible for the content of the manuscript, including verifying the accuracy of AI-generated material, checking references, ensuring appropriate attribution, and preventing plagiarism, fabrication, or misrepresentation of data and findings.
The use of AI for basic spelling and grammar correction should be distinguished from the generation of substantive scholarly content. Authors should follow the journal's disclosure instructions and provide an appropriate statement whenever AI-assisted technologies have been used in the production of the submitted work.
AI tools must not be used in ways that compromise research participants' privacy, confidentiality, or data security. Authors must not upload confidential research materials or identifiable participant information to AI systems unless the use is authorized and complies with applicable ethical, legal, and data-protection requirements.
