Media Kartu Situasi dengan Menggunakan Teknik Role-play untuk Meningkatkan Pemahaman Siswa tentang Dampak People Pleaser

Abstract

The desire to overly please others is known as people-pleasing behavior. This can lead to anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, and difficulty setting personal boundaries. The aim of this study is to explore how using situation cards with a role-play approach can improve our understanding of the negative effects of people-pleasing. The research uses a systematic literature review of 17 national and international journal articles from 2023–2026. The results show that psychological impacts, assertive communication, and group counseling are the main research themes, with high school and college students as the subjects. Role-play techniques have been shown to improve communication skills, empathy, courage to speak up, and setting personal boundaries. Situation cards and role-play could be a new innovation in counseling services.
