Implementasi Media Crossword Puzzle Terhadap Hasil Belajar IPAS Siswa Kelas V SD Negeri Donan 06 Cilacap Tengah

Abstract

The low science and social studies (IPAS) learning outcomes among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Donan 06 Cilacap Tengah (average score of 68.97, below the minimum mastery criterion of 75, with only 31.03% of students achieving mastery) motivated this study, which aimed to examine the effect of Crossword Puzzle media on IPAS learning outcomes in the topic "What's on Our Earth". Using a quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design involving 29 students (total sampling), this study employed a 20-item multiple-choice instrument (reliability of 0.80) along with media presented in both print and digital formats, structured hierarchically according to Bloom's Taxonomy (C1–C4). The results showed that the average score increased from 10.17 to 14.96, with a t-count of 12.862 exceeding the t-table value of 2.0484, and an N-Gain of 0.55 (moderate category). It was thus concluded that Crossword Puzzle media had a significant effect on improving IPAS learning outcomes among fifth-grade students.
