Efektivitas Media Gamifikasi Wordwall dalam Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Sekolah Dasar
Abstract
The low math problem-solving skills of elementary school students are still the main challenge in classroom learning. The limited use of interesting learning media causes student motivation to learn low and student participation tends to be passive in mathematics learning. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of Wordwall-based gamification-based learning media in improving the mathematical problem-solving skills of elementary school students and to determine the difference in learning outcomes between students who learn using Wordwall and students who learn by conventional methods. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the nonequivalent control group design. The research population is all grade V students of public elementary schools in Nguntoronadi District, Wonogiri Regency. The research sample amounted to 76 randomly selected students, consisting of 40 students in the experimental class and 36 students in the control class. Data collection techniques include math problem-solving skills tests and student active involvement observation sheets. The results showed that the use of Wordwall gamification media had a significant effect on students' mathematical problem-solving skills, which was proven by the results of the t-test of two independent samples (t = 4.182; p < 0.05). N-Gain analysis showed a high increase in ability in the experimental class of 0.71 and a moderate increase in the control class of 0.43. These results show that learning using Wordwall media is more effective than conventional learning methods. It can be concluded that Wordwall's gamification-based learning media is effective in improving elementary school students' mathematical problem-solving skills, encouraging students' active involvement, and creating an interactive and fun learning atmosphere. Therefore, Wordwall is worth using as an innovative alternative in learning math in elementary school.
