企业简介与企业新闻语域特征的多维对比研究
Abstract
Corporate profiles and corporate news are two important genres of external corporate communication. Although they serve different communicative purposes, their shared and distinctive register functions have received limited systematic, corpus-based investigation. This study compares their co-occurring linguistic features and functional register dimensions, drawing on Biber's multidimensional approach. Two Chinese-language corpora, comprising 120 corporate profiles and 120 corporate news texts, were compiled. Sixteen linguistic features at the lexical, syntactic, and discourse/pragmatic levels were extracted. Principal component analysis with Promax rotation was used to identify functional dimensions, and independent-samples t-tests were conducted to compare dimension scores across the two genres. Five dimensions emerged: written-style expression, action orientation, information organization, objective exposition, and elaboration and thematic reinforcement. Significant differences were found in action orientation and objective exposition. Corporate profiles showed stronger objective exposition and weaker action orientation, foregrounding stable descriptions of corporate information and organizational identity. Corporate news, in contrast, more strongly emphasized event progression, corporate activities, and development plans. No significant differences were found in written-style expression, information organization, or elaboration and thematic reinforcement, indicating shared conventions of formal expression and information construction in corporate discourse. These findings reveal functional register variation between corporate profiles and corporate news and provide empirical implications for Business Chinese discourse teaching and instructional materials development.
