Author Guidelines
The Indonesian Journal of Applied Statistics (IJAS) welcomes original research articles that contribute to the development and application of statistical methods in various fields. Manuscripts should present clear research objectives, appropriate statistical methods, and findings that make a meaningful contribution to the relevant field.
Authors are encouraged to read the journal's Focus and Scope and follow the guidelines below before submitting their manuscripts.
General Requirements
- Manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously, and must not be under consideration by another journal.
- Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English. Authors should use clear and consistent academic language.
- All manuscripts must be prepared using the official IJAS manuscript template.
- Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their research and complying with the journal's policies on publication ethics, plagiarism, authorship, and the use of artificial intelligence.
- Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be returned for revision or rejected during the initial editorial screening.
Manuscript Format
Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word using the official IJAS template. The main text should use Sitka Display, 11 pt, with single-line spacing.
Authors should follow the formatting provided in the template, including page layout, headings, tables, figures, equations, and references. Unnecessary changes to the template should be avoided.
Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should be organized into the following sections.
1. Title and Author Information
The title should be concise, informative, and reflect the main focus of the research. It must not exceed 14 words and should be written in Sitka Display, 13 pt, bold.
Authors must provide their full names, institutional affiliations, and the email address of the corresponding author, following the format shown in the template.
2. Abstract and Keywords
The abstract should contain 150–250 words and briefly present the research objectives, methods, main findings, and conclusions.
For manuscripts written in English, the abstract must be provided in English. Manuscripts written in Indonesian must include abstracts in both Indonesian and English.
Each abstract must be accompanied by 3–5 keywords or key phrases, separated by semicolons. Keywords should be provided in the same language as the corresponding abstract.
3. Introduction
The Introduction should explain the background and importance of the research, discuss relevant previous studies, and identify the research problem or gap.
Authors should clearly state the objectives of the study and explain its contribution to the development or application of statistical methods. Research questions or hypotheses may be included where appropriate.
4. Methods
The Methods section should describe the data, research design, statistical methods, and analytical procedures used in the study.
Authors should provide sufficient information for readers to understand and evaluate the analysis. Relevant theories, model specifications, assumptions, and analytical procedures should be explained and supported by appropriate references.
Where applicable, authors should identify the statistical software or computational tools used in the research.
5. Results and Discussion
This section should present the main findings and explain their meaning in relation to the research objectives.
Results may be presented through statistical summaries, tables, figures, or other appropriate forms. All tables and figures should be discussed in the text rather than simply repeated in written form.
The discussion should interpret the findings, relate them to previous research where relevant, and explain their implications. Authors are encouraged to discuss important limitations of the study.
6. Conclusions
The Conclusions section should summarize the main findings and explain how they address the research objectives.
Conclusions must be supported by the results presented in the manuscript. Relevant implications or recommendations for further research may also be included.
7. Acknowledgements
This section is optional. Authors may acknowledge individuals or institutions that supported the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship.
Sources of research funding may also be stated in this section.
8. References
References must follow the IEEE citation style, using numbered citations in square brackets, such as [1] and [2].
Each manuscript must include at least 15 references, with at least 50% published within the last ten years.
Authors are encouraged to use reference management software, such as Mendeley or Zotero, to maintain consistency in citations and references.
A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) must be included for references where one is available. If a DOI is unavailable, a valid URL may be provided where appropriate.
All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and all entries in the reference list must be cited in the manuscript.
Tables, Figures, and Equations
Tables and figures should be clear, readable, and relevant to the research.
Table titles must appear above the tables, while figure captions must be placed below the figures. All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and referred to in the text.
Authors should ensure that figures are of sufficient quality and that tables are presented in a clear and consistent format.
Mathematical equations should be prepared using Microsoft Word Equation Editor and formatted according to the journal template.
Peer Review Process
IJAS follows a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential during the review.
Authors should include their names, affiliations, and corresponding author information in the submitted manuscript, as required by the journal template. The editorial team will remove identifying information before sending the manuscript to reviewers.
All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their suitability for the journal, compliance with submission requirements, and text similarity. Manuscripts that pass this stage will proceed to peer review in accordance with the journal's Peer Review Process.
Publication Ethics and AI Use
Authors must comply with the journal's policies on Publication Ethics, Plagiarism, Authorship and Contributorship, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use.
Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of their research, including the data, statistical methods, analyses, and conclusions presented in the manuscript.
Any use of generative AI tools that contributes substantively to manuscript preparation must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's AI Use Policy. Where required, authors should include a Declaration of AI Use section before the References.
Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted through the IJAS online submission system. Authors should ensure that all required information is complete and that the manuscript follows the official template before submission.
The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial team and coordinating any revisions requested during the review process.
Authors should carefully review the Submission Preparation Checklist before completing their submission.
