TRADISI NGANGGUNG DI PULAU BANGKA: SUATU ALTERNATIF DALAM PENDIDIKAN MULTIKULTURAL UNTUK PENGUATAN IDENTITAS MORAL

Abstract

The morality of today's society is being questioned, even actions that lead to immorality often occur. Many things trigger this condition, one of which is the proliferation of foreign cultures that are more tempting, and the acceptance of foreign cultures without a filter. Education in the present context, which should be a place for self-development, is considered less effective in building ideal characters for today's generation. The nganggung tradition as one of the cultural ceremonies on Bangka Island can be recommended as a medium to reaffirm the moral identity of the community, especially for the younger generation. The purpose of this paper is to further discuss the role of the Nganggung tradition as an effort to strengthen the moral identity of the community. The research method used is library research through several results of existing research studies. The results of the study of this paper are, that in the nganggung tradition there is a philosophical meaning that leads to the strengthening of national identity, as well as a form of preserving morality through all its processions. The conclusion is, that the Nganggung tradition can be an example of local culture to strengthen moral identity and be implemented through multicultural education.
