Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a diversity of tribes, nations, races and religions. Plurality in Indonesia requires creating a tolerant attitude for equality and human welfare. University as a means of higher education teaches moral and ethical values in building social justice. The cultivation of moral and ethical values begins in a small scope such as at a university and is then implemented in social life.

Tolerance is one of the efforts to anticipate divisions between tribes, nations, races and religions. The entry of a new culture from outside is a challenge to form an attitude of tolerance.  The threat of national disintegration is a major problem in realizing social justice. Moral education and character education are one of the preventive measures needed to anticipate the possibilities that may occur. Sebelas Maret University is a university that upholds tolerance with the slogan Campus Fort Pancasila. Various students with their respective cultures characterize Sebelas Maret University. Diversity at Sebelas Maret University teaches the academic community to implement an attitude of tolerance.
