Author Guidelines

Authors who wish to submit articles must send them via system and it is free of charge. Here are the guidelines for writing the manuscripts:

  1. Articles have not been published or accepted for publication, or are being considered for publication elsewhere. In addition to the manuscript, a written statement should be attached which clarifies that the article is original and does not contain any elements of plagiarism.
  2. Prasasti: Journal of Linguistics provides template (English) (Bahasa) to write the article based on its format.
  3. Articles are written in Indonesian or English (preferable) using academic language along with standard academic writing structure and composition. Manuscripts are typed 1 spaced in a quarto paper size (A4), between 15-20 pages (3500-7000 words) in length including references, pictures, and tables.
  4. Article should be in form of essay which includes:
    • Title. The title should be clear and informative in English and Indonesia (12-20 words),
    • Author’s names and Institutions. The author’s name (without academic degree) with institution’s name, address, and an e-mail address,
    • Abstract. The abstract in English and Indonesia (150-250 words for each) which includes research problems, methods and results,
    • Keywords. The keywords in English and Indonesia (3-5 words),
    • Introduction/pendahuluan (without subsection, 2-3 pages) which includes background, objectives, methods, and literature reviews/theoretical construct (if needed) of the research. The introduction section  ends with an emphasis on items to be discussed, 
    • Theory and Methods/Teori dan Metodologi. This section describes the appropriate tools of analysis along with the data and their sources.
    • Result and Discussion/temuan dan pembahasan, for conceptual article the subtitles are based on the topic.
    • Conclusion/simpulan, The section concludes and provides policy impications, if any, of the study. The conclusion(s) should be at the same order with ones discussed in the body of the manuscript.
    • (Acknowledgement/ Credit/ Thanks) (Optional). This is used to appreciate the efforts of associate, who are not registered as co-authors, for their assistance and fund for your research/publication.
    • ReferencesDaftar Pustaka. This section lists only the papers, books, or other types of publications referred to in the body of the manuscript.
  5. Referral sources should be up-to-date (the last five years). Primary referral sources are preferable (research articles in scientific journals/magazines or research reports).
  6. The information of citations/references are written in brackets. Mention the pages of direct quotations, for example: ... (Pratama, 2007:98)
  7. Reference list format is based on APA (American Psychological Association) style. Reference list should appear at the end of the article and includes only literatures actually cited in the manuscripts. References are ordered alphabetically and chronologically. We strongly recommend authors to use reference tools, such as Mendeley, Zotero, Endnote, etc. Herewith are some of the APA-based references format structure:
    • Printed book: Author, A. A. (Year of Publication). Title of work. Publisher City, State: Publisher.
    • Online book: Author, A. A. (Year of Publication). Title of work [E-Reader Version]. Retrieved from http://xxxx or doi:xxxx
    • Book Chapter: Author, A. A. (Year of Publication). Chapter Title. In Author, A. A. (Ed./Eds.), Book Title, pp. xx-xx. Publisher City, State: Publisher.
    • Journal article in print: Author, A. A. (Publication Year). Article title. Periodical Title, Volume(Issue), pp.-pp.

  8. Articles should be submitted online in soft files by using Microsoft Word application. 
  9. Authors will be sent notifications of the receipt of manuscripts and editorial decisions (whether the articles are accepted or not) by e-mail. Manuscripts that are not published will not be returned to the authors. 

 

Online Submitting Manuscript Guidelines

The manuscript text must be submitted:

  1. Submitting document should be done by Online Submission System in the Prasasti: Journal of Linguistics .
  2. First, the author should register as an author or reader (checking role as author or reader) in the “Register”.
  3. After registration completed, log in as an author, click in “New Submission”. The article submits stage consist five stages, such as:  (1). Start, (2). Upload Submission, (3). Enter Metadata, (4). Upload Supplementary Files, (5). Confirmation.
  4. In the “Start” column, chose Journal Section (Full Article), check all the checklists.
  5. In the “Upload Submission” Columns, upload the manuscript files at MSWord (97-2003) format in this column.
  6. In the “Enter Metadata” columns, fill out all the author data and affiliation. Following the Journal Title, Abstract and Indexing Keywords.
  7. In the “Upload Supplementary Files” columns, allowed to upload supplementary data file or the statement letter or other else.
  8. In the “Confirmation” columns, if all the data that you enter were right, then click “Finish Submission”.
  9. Authors will be sent notifications of the receipt of manuscripts and editorial decisions (whether the articles are accepted or not) by e-mail. Manuscripts that are not published will not be returned to the authors. 

 

Article Processing Charges (APC)

PJL is an open access international journal. Since manuscript submission year 2016, Authors should not pay some processing and submission fees for article processing (free of charge). Readers can read and download any full-text articles for free of charge.

All expenses of the journal are covered by the Universitas Sebelas Maret. Processing and publication are free of charge with the journal. There is no article processing charges or submission fees for any submitted or accepted articles.
