Abstract

The large number of students who are less motivated in learning mathematics results in students' mathematics learning outcomes decreasing. Therefore, several strategies and learning models are needed that can meet the needs of students. The purpose of this research is to optimize the mathematics learning outcomes of 6th-grade students at SDIT Ar-Risalah Surakarta by implementing the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach with the Teams Game Tournament (TGT) model. The CRT approach focuses on teaching that considers the cultural background of the students, making the learning process more relevant and meaningful. Meanwhile, the TGT model is used to facilitate cooperative and competitive learning to achieve shared learning goals. In this research, we used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, where there are 2 research cycles. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The research results show that the implementation of the TGT model, adapted to the cultural context (CRT), is effective in significantly improving participation, motivation, and mathematics learning outcomes for 6th-grade students at SDIT Ar-Risalah Surakarta
