Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.
Author Guidelines
Authors submitting a manuscript to Javanologi: International Journal of Javanese Studies must strictly comply with these guidelines and use the official manuscript template. Submissions that do not adhere to the required format will be rejected prior to peer review. All papers must be written in English.

Manuscript Structure & Formatting Requirements
Manuscripts should follow this order: Title → Author Info → Abstract → Keywords → Introduction → Method (optional) → Result & Discussion → Conclusion → References → Acknowledgement (if any).
📌 Title & Author Details Written in Times New Roman (14pt, Bold). Must include author name(s), institutional affiliations (University, City, and Country), and the corresponding author's email address. |
📝 Abstract Clear, concise, and descriptive (maximum 200 words). Must briefly state the problem, research objective, method, and summary of results. Formatted in Times New Roman (10pt, 1.0 line spacing). |
🏷️ Keywords Provide 2 to 5 keywords, arranged alphabetically and separated by commas (,). |
📖 Introduction Provides background and the central issue discussed in the manuscript. Conclude the section by highlighting the research significance and main objectives. |
⚙️ Method Optional Describes research framework or methodology. Note: This section is optional based on the updated template from Vol. 8(2). |
📊 Result and Discussion The primary section of the manuscript. Contains clear and concise analytical findings and discussion regarding the object of study. |
🎯 Conclusion Answers the research objectives directly without repeating the abstract or verbatim results. Includes practical applications, implications, or future recommendations. |
📚 References & Citations Must follow APA Style and be arranged alphabetically. Authors are required to use reference management software (such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote). Every item cited in the text must appear in the references list. 👉 Refer to the APA Citation Quick Guide. |
5-Step Online Submission Guide
Authors must register and submit manuscripts online via jurnal.uns.ac.id/javanologi.
STEP 1 Starting the Submission
Select the appropriate journal section (Original Research Articles or Review Article) and complete all submission checklist items.
STEP 2 Uploading the Submission
Click Browse to select your manuscript document file (.docx format formatted with the journal template) and click Upload.
STEP 3 Entering Submission Metadata
Fill in author details (add co-authors using "Add Author" button). Include your Google Scholar profile URL in the website field. Copy and paste the manuscript title, abstract, and keywords into the designated fields.
STEP 4 Uploading Supplementary Files (Optional)
Upload supporting documents, such as a Cover Letter / Submission Letter or research data files.
STEP 5 Confirming Submission & Tracking
Perform a final review of the uploaded files. Click Finish Submission. A confirmation email will be sent automatically. You can track manuscript progress at any time by logging into your account interface.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- Authors must declare any competing financial and/or non-financial interests in relation to the work described.
- Authors must follow Javanologi template and guideline.
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The body text use 1,5 spacing; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
