ANALYSIS OF GENERAL SOEDIRMAN’S STRUGGLE VALUES IN THE BASIC EDUCATION OF STUDENT REGIMENT TO IMPROVE THE STATE DEFENSE AWARENESS OF STUDENT ACTIVITY UNIT CORPS MAHASISWA SIAGA BATTALION 905 JAGAL ABILAWA

Abstract

The youths’ attitude during the independence war era and the youths nowadays have different role model. The globalization era becomes a latent danger eroding the politeness and manner of the youths. In order to overcome that problem, Student Activity Unit (UKM) becomes the standard in developing softskills. One of the UKM giving a great impact toward nationalism and patriotism in the University environment is Student Regiment.

This research is aimed to determine (1) the foundation history of Student Regiment UNS, (2) the implementation of education and Pra Gladi Patria basic training, the relevance of General Soedirman’s struggle values in the basic education of UKM Student Corps members, and (4) the role of Student Regiment UNS in the effort of state defense.

The research method used is qualitative study with case study strategy. The data collection methods used are interview, observation, and document analysis. The results of the research are (1) The foundation history of Student Regiment UNS organization, (2) The implementation of Education and PGP Basic Training, (3) General Soedirman’s struggle values and their relevance in Education and PGP Basic Education, and (4) The role of Student Regiment in the effort of state defense.
