IMPLEMENTASI MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING DENGAN PENDEKATAN SAINTIFIK UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERFIKIR KRITIS DAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA MATA PELAJARAN EKONOMI KELAS XI IIS I SMA NEGERI 6 SURAKARTA TAHUN PELAJARAN 2014/2015

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve critical thinking skills and students learning outcomes of economic subject at class XI IIS I of Senior High School 6 Surakarta in academic year of 2014/2015 with the implementation of discovery learning Model by using scientific approach. The subjects were students of class XI IIS 1 of Senior High School 6 Surakarta in the academic year of 2014/2015 with 30 students. Sources of data derived from the teachers, students, and documents. The technique of data collection used are (a) Observation, (b) Test, (c) documentation, (d) interviews. Techniques for the validity of the data used triangulation of data sources and triangulation tec hniques. Comparative analysis, simple quantitative and qualitative analysis is used for analyzing the data. The procedures of this research are (a) planning, (b) action, (c) observation, (d) reflection.

Based on the research results, the learning process with the implementation of discovery learning model by using scientific approach can improve critical thinking skills and learning outcomes of the students. It depends on the critical thinking skills cycle according to the indicators. These indicators increase 22,83 % (pre cycle percentage 47,17% and 70,00% on the first cycle). The students learning outcomes also increased 11,83% (the pre cycle average points 72,27 (2,89) and the first cycle 3,36 84,10 (3,36)) by the completeness presentation 30% (the pre-cycle completeness percentage is 43,33% and 73,33% on the first cycle). On the cycle II, the critical thinking skills of students continue to increase, it can be seen that the critical thingking indicator increase 11,50% (the first cycle percentage is 70,00 % and second cycle is 81,50%. Student learning outcomes on cycle II is also increased 8% and the completeness percentage is 13,34% (the first cycle percentage 73,33 and second cycle 86,67%). The conclusion of this research is the implementation of Discovery Learning Model by using scientific approach can improve students’ critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in Economics subject at class XI IIS I of Senior High School 6 Surakarta, in the academic year of 2014/2015.
