Publication Ethics

The publication of scholarly articles in a peer-reviewed journal is an essential part of the development and dissemination of academic knowledge. BISE is committed to maintaining responsible publication practices and ensuring the quality and integrity of the research it publishes.

The Department of Economic Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret, as the publisher of BISE, takes responsibility for maintaining ethical standards throughout the publication process. The journal expects all authors, editors, reviewers, and other parties involved in the publication process to uphold academic integrity.

BISE is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research and publication integrity and does not tolerate:

• plagiarism;
• duplicate publication;
• fabricated data;
• falsified data;
• manipulation of research findings;
• inappropriate authorship;
• citation manipulation;
• peer-review manipulation;
• undisclosed conflicts of interest; or
• other forms of academic misconduct.

When suspected misconduct is identified, the editorial team will conduct an appropriate assessment and may request clarification or supporting documentation from the authors. Where necessary, the journal may take corrective action, including rejection, correction, expression of concern, or retraction.

Plagiarism and Similarity

Manuscripts submitted to BISE are screened for plagiarism and textual similarity using plagiarism or similarity-detection software. BISE considers plagiarism a serious violation of academic integrity. A high similarity score does not automatically establish plagiarism; the editorial team will assess the nature, extent, and sources of the similarities.

Manuscripts containing substantial inappropriate similarities may be:

• returned to the authors for revision;
• rejected before peer review; or
• subjected to further investigation.

Cases of suspected plagiarism will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures.

Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Tools

BISE recognizes the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted tools in academic writing and research.

Authors may use AI tools for limited purposes, such as:

• grammar and language correction;
• translation;
• improving readability; and
• non-substantive editorial assistance.

However, AI tools must not replace the authors' intellectual contribution or research responsibilities. AI tools must not be used to fabricate or manipulate data, generate false research findings, create fictitious references, misrepresent sources, produce fraudulent content, or replace human responsibility for the scientific interpretation of research. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

Where required, authors should disclose the substantive use of AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation.

Authorship and Changes in Authorship

Authorship should reflect substantial contributions to the research and manuscript. Individuals listed as authors should have made meaningful contributions to one or more of the following:

• conceptualization;
• research methodology;
• data collection;
• data analysis;
• interpretation of findings;
• manuscript drafting; or
• substantial revision of the manuscript.

All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission. Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be justified and approved by all authors. The editorial team reserves the right to request an authorship statement or other documentation when necessary.

Corrections and Retractions

BISE is committed to maintaining an accurate and reliable scholarly record.

• Correction: A correction may be published when an error is identified that affects the accuracy or clarity of the published article but does not invalidate the main findings.
• Retraction: An article may be retracted when there is clear evidence of serious problems, such as major data fabrication or falsification, substantial plagiarism, serious methodological errors that invalidate findings, duplicate publication, unethical research practices, or other serious forms of publication misconduct.

Retractions and corrections will be clearly identified and linked to the original article to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors where such work is important to the manuscript. Reviewers should also inform the editor if they identify substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and another published work of which they are aware.

Editorial Independence & Responsibilities

BISE: Jurnal Pendidikan Bisnis dan Ekonomi is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity, editorial independence, transparency, and ethical publication practices. The journal follows established principles of responsible scholarly publishing and expects all authors, editors, reviewers, and other parties involved in the publication process to uphold these standards.

Editorial Independence

BISE is committed to maintaining editorial independence in all decisions concerning manuscript evaluation and publication.

Editorial decisions are based primarily on:

• the scientific quality of the manuscript;
• originality and novelty;
• relevance to the journal's focus and scope;
• methodological rigor;
• clarity of presentation;
• scholarly contribution; and
• compliance with publication ethics.

Editorial decisions must not be influenced by:

• the author's institutional affiliation;
• academic position;
• nationality;
• gender;
• religion;
• political views;
• personal relationships;
• financial interests; or
• other non-academic considerations.

The Editor-in-Chief has final responsibility for editorial decisions while ensuring that these decisions are made fairly, objectively, and transparently.

Editorial Responsibilities

The editorial team is responsible for managing the publication process fairly, professionally, and transparently. Editors assess manuscripts objectively, maintain confidentiality, select independent reviewers, and manage potential conflicts of interest. Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal research without explicit permission.

Section Editors & Editorial Board Members

Section Editors and Editorial Board Members assist the Editor-in-Chief by conducting initial evaluations, recommending suitable reviewers, assessing reports, and providing recommendations. Board members must declare any potential conflicts of interest and decline handling manuscripts where impartiality could be compromised.

Publication Frequency

BISE: Jurnal Pendidikan Bisnis dan Ekonomi is published twice a year:

• Issue 1: March
• Issue 2: September

BISE accepts manuscripts through continuous submission throughout the year. Accepted manuscripts will be scheduled for publication based on the editorial process, production readiness, and available space in each issue.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

BISE currently operates under a no-APC policy. Authors are not charged any fees for manuscript submission, peer review, editorial processing, or publication. All accepted articles are published free of charge. Editorial and publication decisions are based solely on the academic quality and scholarly contribution of the manuscript.
