ANALYSIS OF THE APPLICATION OF STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING AND CONTEXTUAL-TEACHING AND LEARNING IN MATHEMATICS LEARNING AT SMA NEGERI 2 SURAKARTA

Abstract

This research aims to describe how student-centered learning is applied in mathematics learning at SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta and describe how contextual-teaching and learning is applied in mathematics learning at SMAN 2 Surakarta. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data sources for this research include learning events (quadratic equations) and informants (2 class X mathematics teachers, 2 groups of class X students). The sampling technique was carried out using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation and interviews. The validity test technique is researcher triangulation and method triangulation. The results of this research are as follows. First, the implementation of mathematics learning has not yet fully occurred as student-centered learning.  Second, the implementation of mathematics learning has not yet fully implemented contextual-teaching and learning.
