Abstract

This study explores the traditional Balinese agricultural landscape system known as Subak, with a specific focus in Anggabaya Village, situated on the suburban area of Denpasar City, Bali Province. In this context, the Subak landscape in Anggabaya remains crucial not only for agricultural productivity but also for sustaining the socio-cultural, religious, and ecological practices of the local farming community. A key feature examined in this research is the Telajakan Subak. The aim of the study is to identify and classify the types, structural components, and uses of Subak landscapes using an architectural analytical framework. The research employs a qualitative methodology supported by field surveys, spatial documentation, measurements, and interviews with farmers and community leaders. The analysis is guided by five architectural principles: and function. Findings reveal that the Subak landscape in Anggabaya comprises a variety of typologies, influenced by irrigation infrastructure, accessibility, and natural topography. These include both organically evolved and deliberately constructed models. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of vernacular landscape architecture and supports the integration of traditional systems into sustainable urban-rural planning
