REPRESENTASI REPRESI ORDE BARU TERHADAP BURUH (STUDI SALURAN KOMUNIKASI MODERN CHRISTIAN METZ DALAM FILM MARSINAH (CRY JUSTICE))

Abstract

The most remembered labor power and resistance against allforms of mass repressions in the New Order is happen in 21 years ago, when a labor rally at Sidoarjo and caused a worker, Marsinah, died. Considering her great figure and struggle for labor welfare has inspire a director Slamet Rahardjo Djarot to made it to be a movie ‘Marsinah (Cry Justice)’, on 2001. This is a qualitative research study, using the Christian Metz Semiology or Film Semiotics as its method of analysis, tried to reveal how this movie represents New Order repression against the workers through its typical filmic structure. The eight steps of  Metz mapping being used to revealed the typical structure Through categorization of the physical violence and symbolic violence as asign, the representation of the New Order repression against  the  workers  shown  in  the  form  of: (1) Terror and (2) Intimidation.
