DAMPAK KEBERADAAN JALAN TOL TERHADAP KONDISI FISIK, SOSIAL, DAN EKONOMI LINGKUNGANNYA

Abstract

Nearly all developments bring about positive and negative effects, so does the toll road. The activity of toll-road construction results in a variety of effects on its environment’s physical, social, and economic conditions, whether during pre-construction, construction, or post-construction time. The objective of article is to identify the effect of physical and social-economic conditions among the society surrounding the toll-road including the old path after the opening (post-construction) in several toll-roads in Indonesia, particularly in Java Island. This study was conducted using a precedent one on several toll-roads existing in Indonesia. The result of study shows that on the one hand, the existence of toll-road can shorten the traveling time and improve the business activity, but on the other hand it also brings about loss, like many informal sector businesses of society along the old path that encounter income decrease, the reduction of farming land, as well as environment degradation.
