Abstract

The study aimed to describe the steps for implementing the Problem Based Learning, to improve process skills and natural science learning outcomes to students of grade IV A, and to describe the obstacles and solutions encountered in the application of Problem Based Learning. The study was carried out in three cycles. The subjects were teacher and students of grade IVA at SDN 5 Panjer. The data were qualitative and quantitative. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and tests. The data validity used triangulation of sources and triangulation of techniques. Data analysis included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicated that Problem Based Learning improved process skills and natural science learning outcomes. The percentages of students' process skills in natural science were 80.83% in the first cycle, 86.67% in the second cycle, and 91.67% in the third cycle. The passing grade of students’ learning outcomes were 78.26% in the first cycle, 84.78% in the second cycle, and 91.30% in the third cycle. It concludes that the application of the Problem Based Learning improves the process skills of science learning outcomes about force and motion to students of grade IVA at SDN 5 Panjer in the academic year of 2021/2022.
