Common Announcement: Ethics and Authorship in Submissions to the IJIE (Indonesian Journal of Informatics Education)

Dear Esteemed Authors and Members of the Academic Community,

The Indonesian Journal of Informatics Education (IJIE) is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in academic publishing. In light of recent concerns, we emphasize the importance of integrity and transparency in authorship practices.

Authorship Responsibility

Authorship is a reflection of significant contributions to the research and publication process. Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to data preparation, manuscript writing, editing, and final proofreading should be listed as authors to ensure fairness and accountability. These contributions include:

  • Conceptualizing the research, designing the methodology, and preparing the data.
  • Drafting the manuscript and revising it critically for intellectual content.
  • Reviewing, editing, and approving the final version of the manuscript for submission.

Including individuals as authors who have not been directly involved in these key stages is strictly prohibited. Authorship is a professional and academic responsibility, and misrepresentation undermines the publication's credibility and disrespects genuine contributors.

Mandatory Submission Requirements

All contributing authors’ details must be accurately entered into the journal’s system (OJS) during the submission process. This includes their full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses.

It is the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure that:

  1. The author information entered into the OJS matches the information in the final manuscript.
  2. The final manuscript accurately reflects the contributions of each listed author.

Failure to comply with these requirements will result in delays or possible rejection of the manuscript.

Institutional and Professional Trust

Inappropriate authorship practices damage not only the trustworthiness of the submitting authors but also the reputation of their affiliated institutions. Such actions erode the credibility of the academic community and hinder scientific progress.

IJIE’s Commitment to Ethical Standards

We take these matters seriously and have implemented strict measures to ensure compliance with authorship and ethical guidelines:

  • Submissions will be reviewed for adherence to authorship standards.
  • Violations may result in the rejection of the manuscript and sanctions against the authors.
  • Serious breaches will be reported to the authors’ affiliated institutions.

We urge all contributors to uphold these principles and foster an academic environment based on honesty, respect, and trust.

Thank you for your continued support in making IJIE a leading journal in the field of informatics education.

Sincerely,

EIC of IJIE
