Effect of Partial Replacement of Fine Aggregate with Plastic Waste on Density, Compressive Strength And Economic Value of Light Bricks
Abstract
This study aims to: 1) analyze the effect of partially replacing fine aggregate with PET waste cellular lightweight concrete (CLC). 2) To find out the economic value resulting from the use of various PET plastic wastes as a substitute for some fine aggregates. This research is experimental research. The variables in this study were (1) independent variables: variations in PET plastic waste powder. (2) the dependent variable: specific gravity, compressive strength and economic value of lightweight bricks with variations in the replacement of fine aggregate (sand) with PET waste. (3) control variables: specific gravity, compressive strength and economic value of normal lightweight bricks. The test object is a lightweight CLC brick with a size of 600 mm x 200 mm x 100 mm. The results of this study are as follows: the highest specific gravity value is found in the 15% PET variation, which is 1280.4 kg/m3. The maximum compressive strength value is found in the 20% PET variation, which is 1.1084 MPa. The overall specific gravity value of the variation in this study is included in the light brick classification with a specific gravity value of 1300 kg/m3. Calculation of the price of making normal lightweight bricks is IDR 15,423.00. The lowest economic value of light brick is found in the 12.5% PET variation of IDR 23,981.00
