Abstract


This study aims to examine and analyze theoretically and empirically, the influence of entrepreneurs’ personal characteristics (achievement motivation and need for cognition) on business performance is mediated by market orientation with the object of study of SMEs in the Copier Business, Computer Rental Business and Internet Cafe Business in Surakarta. This study was an explanatory research, which describes the causal relationships between variables through hypothesis testing research. Collection methods was conducted using the survey method by questionnaires. The population was the SMEs in the Copier Business, Computer Rental Business and Internet Cafe Business in Surakarta. The samples was 50 respondents. Sampling used convenience sampling techniques and testing hypothesis used hierarchical regression analysis. These results indicated that market orientation has mediation effect of entrepreneurial personal characteristics (achievement motivation and need for cognition) on business performance.
