Realitas Sosial Masyarakat Banyumasan Tahun 1946-1965 dalam Novel Lingkar Tanah Lingkar Air

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the content of Ahmad Tohari’s novel Lingkar Tanah Lingkar Air and to analyze the social reality of Banyumasan people in 1946-1965 in the novel Lingkar Tanah Lingkar Air.
This research is historical research and conducted by analyzing the content of novel Lingkar Tanah Lingkar Air, then analyzing the social reality of society and historical events depicted in the novel using literary and sociological approach. The data sources come from the novel and historical sources that associated with representations in the novel. The research method is done by historical research method, starting from selecting topic that becomes the title of thesis. The collection of sources is done by collecting various literatures and historical sources. Internal sources criticism is done by comparing the data in one source with another. External sources is done by looking at the author and year of publication of the source. Interpretation from data are using sociological and historical approach and produce historiography in the form of research results.
The results showed that the novel Lingkar Tanah Lingkar Air tells about the life of Amid and his friends in Banyumasan area as DI/TII warriors. The novel also describes about the social structure of society, consisting of youth, religious culture, Republican army, and some communist groups. The novel Lingkar Tanah Lingkar Air also depicts some historical events, such as DI/TII rebellion in Banyumasan area, Angkatan Oemat Islam (AOI) movement, and existence of communist groups in Banyumasan area. The conclusion of this research is that the novel Lingkar Tanah Lingkar Air can be used to see representations of the social reality that reflected behind historical events.
