Transformasi Ruang Publik Indoor–Outdoor Kawasan Komersial Uptown Marché BSB City melalui Placemaking
Abstract
The transformation of indoor–outdoor public spaces in commercial areas has influenced users' activity patterns and social interactions. However, spatial connectivity and activity distribution remain suboptimal, requiring further investigation through a placemaking approach. This study aims to analyze the transformation of indoor–outdoor public spaces at Uptown Marché, Uptown Mall Bukit Semarang Baru City using a placemaking approach. A qualitative descriptive method was employed through field observations, place-centered mapping, and analysis based on placemaking indicators: Access & Linkages, Comfort & Image, Uses & Activities, and Sociability. The findings reveal uneven activity distribution between active and passive zones and limited indoor–outdoor connectivity. Outdoor areas exhibit higher activity intensity but require improved comfort to better support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. Overall, public space quality is strongly influenced by spatial connectivity and activity diversity, strengthening social interaction and the creative economy.
