DAMPAK KEBERADAAN JALAN LINGKAR (RING ROAD) TERHADAP PERKEMBANGAN LINGKUNGANNYA

Abstract

Almost every development would bring positive and negative impacts, as well as the ring road. Ring road construction activities cause various effects of physical, social, and economic conditions towards its environment. The purpose of this paper is to identify the impact of physical, social and economic conditions on environment around ring road in several of ring roads in Indonesia. This study was conducted through precedent studies on some of the ring roads in Indonesia. Results from this study showed that on one side, ring road can reduce levels off traffic congestion in the city, shorten travel time between cities and improve business activities, namely the emergence of new economic activity along the road, such as diner, gas stations, industries, and so forth, but in the other side also brought new problems, such as changes in land use in the region that could disrupt environmental balance.
