CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF COOKING OIL SCARCITY REPORTS IN OKEZONE.COM ONLINE MEDIA

Abstract

The language phenomenon regarding the news of the scarcity of migraines has become a topic of discussion in the mass media. Departing from this, this study focuses on analyzing the alignments of the Okexone.com media. The data sources for this research are several news about the scarcity of migraines uploaded in February (complications), March (climax), and April (resolution) represented by 15 news texts. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) theory to analyze the alignments of the Okezone.com media in terms of text structure, interpretation results, and socio-cultural aspects. The results of this study are: Description: text structure, use of modalities, metaphors, positive/negative sentences. Interpretation: what, who, relationship to issues, role of language. Explanation: situational, institutional and social changes.
