Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the types of euphemism used in channel YouTube Tonight Show Based on Gender Perspective. The object of this research is euphemism and the context found in the dialogues from men and women speaker. This is a qualitative descriptive research that uses the observation method with notes-taking techniques in collecting the data. The data were analyzed using distributional method with Bagi Unsur Langsung technique (BUL) and meaning component analysyis. The results of data analysis generally shows that the euphemism used by men and women in dialogues about sexuality is figurative expression, flippancy, abbreviation, one for one substitution, and acronym.  Flippancy is the most common type of euphemism used by men and women because this is relate to the politesness rules about indirect speech so the speaker choose the word that is out of the context from the word that need to be change or flippancy. This research is only focused on the sexual euphemism used by men and women speaker in Channel YouTube Tonight Show.
