THE LEXICAL INNOVATION OF JAVANESE IN KARANGANYAR REGENCY CENTRAL JAVA: A GEOLINGUISTICS STUDY

Abstract

Abstract:  The research is entitled “The Lexical Innovation of Javanese Language in Karanganyar Regency Central Java: A Geolinguistics Study”. The research method used in this research the descriptive method. The method and technique of data gathering used are observation method, interview technique, and recording technique respectively. This research is carried out in 10 villages in the districts of the Karanganyar Regency. The result of the research shows that innovations are found, innovation includes phonetic innovation and lexical innovation. The phonetic innovation is raised as many as 35 words found in 18 variants. The vocal form with the greatest number. Besides that, it also found the addition of replacement consonants. In lexical, 34 words were raised in lexical innovation based on the map innovation happened in the same districts.
