REDUPLIKASI BAHASA JAWA DIALEK PENDALUNGAN DI KOTA PROBOLINGGO

Abstract

Abstract:  Reduplication system is one of the important processes in the formation of a word. This study was viewed from three perspectives: forms, functions, and grammatical meanings of reduplication system. This research aims at describing on forms, functions, and grammatical meanings of reduplication in the Javanese especially Pendalungan Dialect in Probolinggo City. This research is descriptive qualitative. The data are extratcted by introspective methods and presented orthographically. This study found that Pendalungan Dialect reduplication can be classified into four linguistic forms. That reduplication are full reduplication, partial reduplication, sound modification reduplication, and affix-combined reduplication. Pendalungan Dialect reduplication found two functions. They are inflective and derivative function. On grammatical meanings, Pendalungan Dialect reduplication express six grammatical meanings, i.e., plurality, continuity, reciprocity, distributivity, qualitative intensity, and weaknesses. Interestingly these grammatical meanings are context-sensitive which a particular context needs to know or determine the meaning conceived by the form of reduplication.
