PENGEMBANGAN MODEL MATERI PRAGMATIK UNTUK BELAJAR MANDIRI DI INDEPENDENT LEARNING CENTER
Abstract
This articles reports a type of participatory action research aming to find out a model of independent learning materials of Pragmatics to be used in Independent Learning Center (ILC), English Department, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UNS. It was a qualitative type of research involving students as the research subjects who took participation in the development. It started with material designs in the forms of paper-based, audio-based, and video-based. In order to get a model which was in line with the curriculum and syllabus of Pragmatics, and which satisfied the needs of students, the three kinds of materials were tried out in ILC twice. In each of the implementation of try out, 15 students were selected as users required to learn the theories and tasks in the three kinds of materials. Meanwhile, in order to improve the materials, the students were asked to give inputs through questionnaires and interviews. The model applied in the first try out was revised and then used in the second. After the model applied in the second try out was revised on the basis of the same students’ inputs, the model covering the three kinds of materials was determined as the final model expected. It is suggested that in the future the model should be periodically reviewed and updated in that it can still be used as independent learning materials in ILC.
