KUALITAS BAHASA INDONESIA DARI TEKS CERITA TULISAN ANAK INDONESIA (INDONESIAN LANGUAGE QUALITY OF STORIES WRITTEN BY INDONESIAN CHILDREN AUTHORS)

Abstract

This paper discusses the Indonesian language quality of stories written by Indonesian children writers in their story book series of Kecil-Kecil Punya Karya. Several books were selected to be analysed for two aspects of quality, i.e. the structure and the texture of the stories. The results show that the children authors have already had good skill in constructing the stories which is indicated by the types and the proper arrangement of the discourse units. They are also good in exploiting grammatical construction and word choice for the stories. Only one grammatical weakness the children have—many simple sentences are initiated by a conjunction. This is related to the fact that they composed the stories in a spoken language style not in written one.
