Abstract

Athlete development in tennis requires a structured, sustainable, and achievement-oriented program supported by adequate coaching, facilities, and systematic evaluation. This study evaluated the tennis athlete development program at Kentung Club using the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) model. A descriptive qualitative design was employed at Kentung Club, Sukoharjo, Indonesia. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and archival documentation involving the head coach/manager, participating athletes, and parents. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model comprising data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Findings reveal that in the context dimension, Kentung Club possessed a clear developmental orientation guided by a multi-tiered curriculum with short-, medium-, and long-term milestones. In the input dimension, the club was supported by dedicated coaching staff, training courts, and an athlete dormitory system, though training continuity remained constrained by outdoor court exposure. In the process dimension, coaches exercised central leadership in periodized planning, daily discipline enforcement, nutrition oversight, and match debriefs facilitated by the residential training camp. In the product dimension, the program successfully elevated technical-tactical consistency, physical stamina, mental toughness, and tournament podium achievements across regional, national, and international junior tennis circuits. Overall program effectiveness was sustained by the synergy between curriculum planning, coach leadership, residential camp supervision, and parental partnership. Recommendations include securing semi-indoor court infrastructure, standardizing measurable entry criteria, and instituting digitized longitudinal performance tracking.
