Peningkatan Kapasitas Peternak Melalui Pendampingan Pembuatan Silase Berbasis Aditif Lokal Di Peternakan Sapi Perah AI Farm

Abstract

Ketersediaan hijauan pakan ternak yang tidak merata sepanjang tahun menjadi tantangan utama dalam usaha peternakan sapi perah, terutama pada musim kemarau. Kelangkaan hijauan ini juga meningkatkan biaya operasional peternak. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemandirian peternak dalam penyediaan pakan melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan silase berbahan lokal. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Peternakan Sapi Perah AI Farm, Kota Batu, dengan melibatkan 30 peternak sapi perah. Proses dilakukan menggunakan bahan rumput gajah, rumput odot, dan tebon jagung yang difermentasi secara anaerob dengan tambahan 10% aditif lokal seperti molases, dedak padi, pollard, dan jagung giling. Evaluasi organoleptik dan kimiawi menunjukkan silase dengan aditif molases dan jagung giling memiliki pH terendah (<3,80) dan kandungan bahan kering tertinggi (>30%), menandakan fermentasi berlangsung optimal. Hasil kegiatan membuktikan bahwa teknologi silase dapat diterapkan secara efektif oleh peternak skala kecil melalui pendekatan partisipatif. Program ini berkontribusi langsung terhadap keberlanjutan peternakan rakyat melalui peningkatan ketahanan pakan dan efisiensi produksi.
