Author Guidelines
JBB AUTHOR GUIDELINES
All manusripts should describe original research or review which has not been reported or submitted elsewhere. Please read author guidelines of the Journal of Biodiversity and Biotechnology (JBB) and follow these instructions carefully. Manuscripts not adhering to the instructions will be returned for revision without review.
Submission stage
All manuscript submitted to JBB should be written in English. All submissions should be prepared with the following rules, and submitted via our open journal system (https://jurnal.uns.ac.id/jbb).
Manuscript format
- The manuscripts must be written using a 12-point Times New Roman font in A4 paper (1.5 space line). The lines should be continuously numbered along the left side and the margins should be 3 cm on all sides.
- The following word processor file formats are acceptable for the main manuscript document for all: Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX) and Rich Text Format (RTF).
- The text should be in single-column format. Keep the layout of the text as simple as possible. Most formatting codes will be removed and replaced on processing the article.
- Page numbers are located at the bottom center of the page.
- Illustration (Figures and Tables) are placed after the references in separate page. Please indicate where the illustration will be placed in the body text.
Manuscript sections are written in the following order:
- Title
- Abstract
- Introduction
- Material and Methods
- Results and Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgement (if any)
- Conflict of interest
- References
Title
The title should be specific, descriptive, concise, and comprehensible to readers outside the subject field. The title should be indented left in 12 point bold Times New Roman font and placed at the top left of page 1. Capitalize only the first letter of the title.
Authors and affiliations
All authors' full names (the middle name can be abbreviated) should be listed together and separated by commas. Link affiliations to the author's name with superscript numbers. The Corresponding Author should be marked with an asterisk (*), and their exact contact address, email address and telephone number should be listed in a separate paragraph. This information will be published with the article if accepted. Any change of affiliation requests will not be allowed after publication. If the article has been submitted on behalf of a consortium, all author names and affiliations should be listed at the end of the manuscript.
Abstract
The abstract should describe the the context and purpose of the study, explain how the study was performed, without methodological detail, and summarize the main findings and their significance. Abstract should contain no more than 250 words. Please minimize the use of abbreviations (if possible) and do not cite references in the abstract. Keywords (normally 3-6 items) should be provided after the abstract in a separate paragraph and should be listed in alphabetical order.
Introduction
The Introduction section should provide a brief statement of the research background and whether the aim of the article was achieved.
Material and Methods
The Materials and Methods section should provide sufficient detail to allow suitably skilled investigators to repeat your study. This section should include the design of the study and the type of materials involved, a clear description of all interventions and comparisons, and the type of analysis used, including a power calculation if appropriate. When proprietary brands are used in research, include the brand names in parentheses. For studies involving animals, a statement detailing ethical approval and consent should be included in the first sentence of this section.
Results and Discussion
These sections may all be separate, or they may be combined to create a mixed labeled "Results and Discussion" section. Authors should describe and explain the results of the experiments in these sections; they should explain how the results relate to the hypothesis presented as the basis of the study and provide a concise explanation of the implications of the findings, particularly in relation to previous related studies and potential future directions for research.
Conclusion
Conclusions should only answer the objectives of the research. The conclusion should be explained clearly. Withdrawal of conclusions based on new findings, which are stated accurately and deeply. New findings can be in the form of theories, postulates, formulas, rules, methods, models, and prototypes. Conclusions must be supported by sufficient research data. Suggestion may be placed after conclusion contains a recommendation on the research done or an input that can be used directly by the consumer.
Acknowledgments
If the research was funded, the author should list the funding information and grant number in the Acknowledgments section. If there are any contributions from other institutions or people, the author should acknowledge them in this section as well.
Conflict of interest
The author should declare all relationships, financial, commercial or otherwise, that might be perceived by the academic community as representing a potential conflict of interest. If there are no such relationships, the author can state “All authors declare no conflicts of interest in this paper” in this section.
References
The primary reference ratio must be more than other references in order to improve the quality of thoughts and ideas that were used as a writing framework. The primary reference is the result of direct research, including articles in scientific journals, proceedings, dissertations, theses, monographs, books and others.
All references must be numbered consecutively, in the order in which they are cited in the text, followed by any in tables or legends. Each reference must have an individual reference number. All citations in the text, figures or tables must be in the reference list and in numerical order; the citations should be called out in brackets ( ).
The citation and reference styles in this journal use the Vancouver style. Authors are suggested to use Reference Manager to prepare references, such as Mendeley.
Citation format in the body text:
… a complex genetic structure and environmental factors (1).

A Copyeditor will be assigned to work in the copyediting stage that intended to improve the flow, clarity, grammar, wording, and formatting of the article. Then, a Layout Editor will be assigned to prepare the galley PDF for online publication. To ensure a fast publication process of the article, we kindly ask authors to provide us with their proofreading corrections within three days. Corresponding authors will receive an e-mail with a link to our online proofing system [Proofreading Request by Author], allowing annotation and correction of proofs online.
Submission Declaration and Verification
Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis or as an electronic preprint), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors approve that the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, including electronically without the written consent of the copyright holder.
Authors are required to submit the "Author Declaration" as supplementary material at the time of the initial manuscript submission. No manuscript will undergo the publication process without this agreement.
