Abstract

This research presented the validity and reliability analysis of JILC English Prediction Test of National Examination at the Third Grade Students of Senior High School in Makassar academic year 2014/2015. The research was designed in the form of quantitative descriptive study. The data were taken from the test result of 30 students as the sample from 1454 students as the population for each question and then analysed by using Validity and Reliability Formula for each item from the answer sheet. The test was given to the students to prepare their readiness to face the real National Examination a month before the research. It was important to analyse the prediction test from JILC as the most favourable and largest learning guidance company with 23 branches in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. To measure the appropriate test, the validity and reliability formula was required to examine each item. Ultimately, only one item was highly valid and the rests were the low and very low category. However, in reliability aspect, the whole test was highly reliable according to K-20 formula. These findings showed that the quality was not good enough as a prediction test and needed to be reformulated to gain qualified English prediction test.
