PRODUCTION OF BIOSORBENT FROM RICE HUSK
Abstract
Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest rice consumption in the world. Efforts to increase rice production continue. Indonesia's rice harvest in 2022 reached 54.75 million tons of unhulled rice (GKG). Rice husk waste has not been optimally utilized, even though it is a potential raw material for agro-industry development. Besides being used as fuel, rice husk can also be used as a raw material for activated charcoal, carbon paper, batteries, and other products. Activated carbon from rice husk can be obtained through a carbonization process followed by activation. This activation process uses a corrosive base and high temperatures. The main material used is sifted rice husk waste. This study used two methods: biosorbent preparation and biosorbent analysis. Biosorbent analysis is divided into two analytical methods: water content determination and biosorbent performance determination as a wastewater absorbent. Biosorbent performance was determined using a colored solution or Methylene Blue (MB).
